What is EMDR? | Trauma Therapy Questions ... Answered by a Trauma Counselor

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing or EMDR is a treatment that enables people to heal from emotional distress that results from disturbing life experiences. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is a body-mind integrated therapy that has been proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma. The theoretical basis for EMDR is that during trauma our brain processes and stores memories incorrectly. This incorrect storage can lead to past memories feeling very present. Related or unrelated stimuli in the present can lead to clien...

The Good In This Year

The Good In This Year

By: Ginny Vose, Therapist at JCAC

temp-post-image

I want to end the year with gratitude. We all know that many horrible things have happened this year. However, some good things have happened in 2020> I graduated with a 2nd Masters Degree, I am loving being a Professional Counselor, and I have a new foster puppy.

Taking all of these things that have happened what are some things that you are grateful for?

Take the time to go over those things in your head, or write them down.

- Happy Monday
