Why I started JCACounseling

The JCAC Story

I started JCAC after working in environments where it was difficult to thrive—community agencies and insurance-based practices that prioritized quantity over quality. As a new mother, I needed a healthier work-life balance, and that’s when I joined a group practice called Marietta Counseling. There, I found what I had been missing: a supportive, collaborative environment that felt like family. It was a place where I could grow professionally while still showing up fully at home.

When I started JCAC, I carried that experience with me. My goal was to build a practice that offered the same kind of support—not just to clients, but to counselors as well. I wanted to help new therapists find their footing, discover their niche, and feel confident in their ability to make a difference.

I quickly realized that I could expand my impact by investing in those who serve. If I could help our staff feel supported, inspired, and grounded, then they could offer exceptional care to even more people. The truth is: we can’t care for others if we are depleted ourselves. Counseling is an emotional, deeply human process. To be fully present with clients, we need full cups, safe spaces, and a community that has our backs. If we have to armor up to get through the workday, that burden will show up in the counseling room—and our clients deserve better. Our education and mentorship model began somewhat unexpectedly. I accepted our first intern with hesitation, unsure if I had the time or enough to offer. But watching that intern grow and seeing their impact on clients sparked something in me. I fell in love with the process of mentoring and teaching—and from there, our internship and mentorship programs began.

Today, my mission is to inspire the next generation of counseling leaders to create their own group practice where quality care, support, and balance are the standard. At JCAC, our mission was built around this belief: when counselors are supported, grounded, and thriving, our clients receive the very best care. Everyone grows. Everyone heals. With the help of our newly developed leadership team, JCAC continues to expand. We’re growing our community outreach, deepening our internship and mentorship programs, and finding more ways to serve both counselors and clients with integrity and care.

Whether you're a counselor looking for a meaningful place to grow, or a client searching for genuine, skilled support—come experience the JCAC difference.
