Meet Amanda:

When a child is struggling with big emotions, it often impacts the whole family. I help children and adolescents navigate life’s heaviest challenges, specializing in support for ADHD, emotional dysregulation, aggression, and anxiety. My goal is to partner with you and create a supportive, developmentally appropriate space where your child can process their feelings, build lasting resilience, and make meaningful changes.

Rather than forcing young children into traditional, adult-style talk therapy, I meet them exactly where they are through their natural language of play. By utilizing evidence-based modalities like Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), I help children heal from the inside out while giving parents the tools they need to manage difficult behaviors. Together, we will work to expand your child's emotional vocabulary, boost their self-esteem, and bring peace back into your home.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is an evidence-based approach for children ages 3–12 that helps young children express emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills through the natural language of play. Because children often communicate through play rather than words, Child-Centered Play Therapy provides a safe, supportive environment where they can process difficult emotions, strengthen self-esteem, improve emotional regulation, and develop lasting resilience. Play therapy can be especially beneficial for children experiencing anxiety, ADHD/ADD, behavioral challenges, aggression, emotional outbursts, low self-esteem, power struggles, grief, divorce, remarriage, or other significant life transitions. Sessions are held one-on-one in a thoughtfully designed playroom filled with therapeutic toys that encourage exploration, emotional expression, and healing while fostering a trusting relationship between therapist and child. Treatment begins with a parent-only consultation to discuss your child's history, identify goals, and ensure a good therapeutic fit, followed by five consecutive weekly 45-minute play therapy sessions. After every five child sessions, we meet for a complimentary one-hour parent consultation to review progress, discuss behavioral patterns, and provide practical strategies you can use at home to support your child's growth. Child play therapy sessions are $150 per 45-minute session, and all parent consultations are included at no additional cost. If you're looking for Child-Centered Play Therapy, play therapy for anxiety, behavioral concerns, ADHD, or emotional regulation in children, I would be honored to partner with your family to help your child feel safe, understood, confident, and empowered to thrive.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) is an evidence-based parent training program that empowers parents and caregivers to become the most important agent of change in their child's emotional and behavioral growth. Rather than focusing solely on one-on-one therapy with a child, CPRT teaches parents of children ages 3–10 how to use the same therapeutic play skills utilized in Child-Centered Play Therapy to strengthen connection, improve communication, and foster healing at home. This highly effective approach helps families navigate ADHD, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, defiance, low self-esteem, and difficult family dynamics by equipping parents with practical, research-backed tools they can use every day. Over the course of a structured 10-week program, we meet weekly without your child to build skills such as recognizing the emotions behind behavior, responding with empathy, encouraging confidence and resilience, and setting calm, therapeutic limits. As you progress, you'll practice these techniques during dedicated 30-minute play sessions at home, then bring recordings of those interactions to our sessions so we can celebrate successes, troubleshoot challenges, and help you feel confident implementing these skills in everyday life. CPRT sessions are $150 per session and are ideal for parents who are committed to taking an active, hands-on role in helping their child thrive.

CCPT vs. CPRT

Choosing between Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) and Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) depends on your family's unique needs, your child's developmental and emotional goals, and the level of involvement you want in the therapeutic process. Together, we'll determine the approach that best supports lasting emotional health, stronger parent-child relationships, and greater peace in your home. If you're looking for parent coaching, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, ADHD parenting support, behavior management strategies, or evidence-based ways to strengthen your relationship with your child, I would be honored to partner with your family. Contact me today to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward creating a more connected, confident, and resilient family.

Experience/Education:

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. My passion for helping children thrive began long before becoming a therapist. During my 10 years as a swim instructor, I helped children overcome anxiety, build confidence, and master new skills through play. Today, I specialize exclusively in play-based therapy to deliver effective, high-quality care. To bring the highest level of clinical excellence to my work, I am also undergoing advanced training under Dr. Brenna Hicks to become a Certified Play Therapy Professional™.
