ALEXANDRA “ALEX” MURPHY, MA
Masters In Trauma Counseling
Alex specializes in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, client-centered talk therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Alex works with children, adolescents and adults with a focus on trauma processing, Complex PTSD, stress, anxiety, grief, depression and LGBTQ concerns. Alex believes in working alongside her clients in order to facilitate healing and growth. She works to create a safe and brave space for clients.
Alex is also passionate about working with one or both parents from pre-conception through early childhood. From hospital or assault trauma impacting anxiety around birth to post-partum mood disorders to general stress about starting a family, Alex is committed to making all her clients feel comfortable and respected throughout this process.
Alex received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Georgia in 2016 and her Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology at the University of Denver in 2020. She worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Phnom Phen, Cambodia during the summer of 2019 and was heavily involved in research on parenting and perinatal populations during the course of her Master’s degree.
Alex is under clinical supervision by Lauren Dack, LPC.
